Let’s Unite in Prayer for the People of Haiti

By Pastor Bill

In light of the devastating earthquake which struck Haiti January 12, pray for the people of Haiti – those recovering from their injuries, those who may be trapped in the ruins, and those who are eagerly awaiting news of their loved ones. Haiti’s prime minister has indicated that several hundred thousand people may have died in the powerful earthquake. Many Haitians attending Fellowship Baptist churches have asked churches within their region to unite in prayer for the millions of suffering people in Haiti. Many of these brothers and sisters in Christ have family members that are unaccounted for in the earthquake zone.

If you would like to contribute to the disaster relief in Haiti our church will be donating all the gifts that come into the Benevolent Fund for the two consecutive Sundays of Jan. 17 and Jan. 24. This money will be given to the Haitians through our Fellowship’s F.A.I.R program, which is partnering with Emmanuel International to support work in Haiti with a group of Baptist churches, which is providing church and community relief among needy families.

Newsflash: On Jan. 14, 2010, the Government of Canada announced that it will match dollar for dollar contributions of individual Canadians to eligible canadian charitable organizations (e.g. CHFBC) in support of humanitarian recovery and reconstruction efforts in Haiti up to a total of $50 million. Please be sure that your name is written on your personal envelope, if you don’t have church envelopes, in order to capitalize on this matching gift grant.

Update: PTL! The total funds received on the Sundays of Jan. 17 & 24 into our Benevolence fund designated for Haiti relief were $7,175.00. May this expression of love for the Haitian people make a tangible difference and somehow contribute to the streaming of the gospel into their hearts. Please continue to pray for both the physical and spiritual rescue of this country, and that the believers there will be robust in their energy, faith, hope and gospel love.

Final Update: As of March 8, 2010 $534,232 towards relief work in Haiti has come in through our FEBCC churches. Thank you for giving a FAIR share in the name of Christ.
