Worship

"Worship takes place when God reveals Himself to us through His Word, the work of Christ and the Power of the Holy Spirit to initiate positive response involving body, emotions, intellect and will." - Adapted from Don Hustad

Worship in the truest sense should apply to all of the Christian life, from Monday through Sunday. It is a direct expression of our ultimate purpose for living. However, in the context of corporate gatherings it applies to the music, words and actions we direct to God with hearts of praise through singing, Scripture reading, prayer, preaching, exhorting, baptism and the Lord's Supper.

We believe in the planning and practice of reverent and relevant worship for a twofold purpose:

1. Magnifying and exulting in the person and cross-work of our great God and Saviour Jesus Christ; and
2. Spiritual renewal that edifies the people of God and conserves our faith.

As a gospel driven church we believe that relevant worship includes a style that serves the compositional make up of our congregation and reverent worship engages God with our authentic encounters of awe, adoration and love.

Reverence and relevance apply to everything we do in the planning, administration, leading and participation of our corporate worship services. We recognize that our church worship involves stylistic ideas, decisions and practices where people's preferences may differ. For example, one person may say Amen in his heart and another might declare it openly; one person may raise his/her hands and another may not. Whether one instrument or a band, whether old hymn or new chorus, whether worship team or single worship leader, whether clapping or not we are fully free in Christ to love Him, and one another, through our worship. To God be the glory.
