COVID-19 Update

Dear brothers and sisters,

Greetings with a holy elbow bump! We miss you all and our physical face to face fellowship. Last night through video conferencing we (us Elders) were able to assemble our unified thoughts in order to sustain our shepherding care during these strange times.

In keeping with guidance from every level of government and Public Health Ontario, Caledon Hills Fellowship will cancel all its public services and events. There will be no Sunday morning Services for March 22 and 29, and all large and small gatherings are put on pause until further notice. Come April we will renew our assessment and keep you informed.
Our decision is not made out of fear but out of our great love for one another and by extension our communities, especially in protection of those who are vulnerable to this coronavirus. In days like these we can remember and be confident that God really is “our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore, we will not fear, though the earth gives way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging…the Lord Almighty is with us” (Psalm 46:1–3, 7).

Now that we’re unable to meet together for the foreseeable future we encourage you to stay connected, using technology, for the sake of our spiritual, social, and psychological wellbeing. Guard yourself against unhealthy seclusion. Walk and enjoy the fresh air. Don’t waste this providential time, but continue to reach out in your love, care, giving, and serving, in new and fresh ways.

We remind you that there are more than 7 years worth of sermons that can be accessed from our church website. And Crystal has helpfully set up a “CHFBC Support Group” for us using WhatsApp (to use this free messaging service you just need a cell phone number in order to download the WhatsApp app to your device or computer). Also, now we can continue to express our faith and worship to the Lord through our regular giving via tax receipted e-Transfers from our on-line bank accounts (donation.chfbc@bellnet.ca). Alternatively, one may mail a cheque directly to the church (16591 Airport Rd., Caledon, ON, L7C3L8). Additionally, in the near future we plan to provide you with new “Shepherd’s Pie” devotional blogposts off our church’s front page. And I (Bill) plan to pull together a podcast for this Sunday. Stay tuned.

Let us not withdraw in fear, but move forward in faith. Let us focus on helping and not hiding. Let us spend time witnessing instead of worrying. Let us use this opportunity to be the hands and feet of Jesus through our prayers and our care for others.

“Those of steadfast mind you keep in peace – in peace because they trust in you” (Isaiah 26:3).

Updates and notifications will be forthcoming as decisions are made.

On behalf of the Elders,

Pastor Bill Henderson
